I am wondering if our Sirius recievers are upgradeable? they should be able to update the firmware and software. has anyone any information on this?
the reason I ask is I'd like to see more functionality, as some other receivers offer!

Now sure how the integration is, but I can tell you that I've had regular car software updates that have changed the Sat functionality.
At first, whenever you would change channels, there would be a sec or two pause between selecting and hearing more music (this would even happen if you chose the same channel again). After updating to version 15 or so, this problem went away, along with the addition of more presets.
So I guess the answer to your question is... maybe..
