Default Question about fluids

Hello,
Hopefully this is in the right section, if not, sorry in advance.
I'm about to do my first oil change on my new to me 08' 535i and am planning on doing a Transmission and rear diff fluid change as well. I'm Planning on using Castrol edge 5w-30 for engine oil, and then for my transmission I was going to do Royal Purple synchromax, as I've read that is a good one to use for my transmission ( I have a six speed Manual). I basically just wanted some input as to if this is good to go with? I've been stuck between RP and Redline transmission fluid.

I have a 2010 535i xdrive with stick shift and in April we used the redline mtl 75w-80 and car runs great. Nothing wrong with using Royal Purple though.

I prefer RedLine oils and lubricants over Royal Purple, but that is my opinion and preference. The technical advisor for the BMW Car Club of America is of the same opinion, if that helps.

I've always used RedLine oil for my BMW manual gearboxes as well. Im sure the royal purple is good too.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I think I'll end up going with redline seeing that's what everyone recommending and use!

I have a '08 535i 6-speed...I don't think the 6-speed is very common. How many miles on your car? I have 110K and haven't changed the rear diff or transmission fluids. I guess I should.

They are not common at all in my area, all of them are automatic here. And my cars going on 139k, and I don't know if the guy before me ever had it changed, he was the original owner and gave me every record and maintenance receipt he had, but I didn't see a trans/rear diff. fluid change. I assume he would've had it done from seeing all the other records, but seeing I'm gonna give it its first oil change, I will change those too, just to be safe
