I've had my 2008 528i for less than 2 weeks so far and have a few questions I need some help/advice on if you guys don't mind.

1. "Don't Laugh please" My friend has a 2009/2010 328i if I'm not mistaken, and doesn't have to have the key installed to activate the Push Start. I noticed that I'm not able to do the same thing and was wondering if someone could explain how/why/why not for me.

2. I've noticed that if I leave the head lights on and turn the car off, the lights remain on for quite a while. I know it's just easy to simply turn the lights off but my wife has already driven the car twice and left the lights on twice as a result. Although the battery didn't die, it has me a little concerned if this is right. I know my 2001 325ci would deactive everything once I turned the car off, just wondering if the same should be true for my 2008.

3. When I first get in my car, I've noticed this sound coming from the DVD/Navigation player. Is this normal, or is this a sign that something is going wrong?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Not sure on the others, but I believe for #1 you'd have to have the comfort access package (same package that opens the doors by touching the handle instead of using the fob). I don't have the package on my 535i and have to insert the fob each time to start.

Ok "Gotpowr" I see that I don't have the comfort access package so that explains why I must have the key inserted. Thanks for the help. Still trying to get answers for 2 & 3. Any input would be appreciated people.

1.) You need the comfort access package, read more info here http://www.bmw.com/com/en/insights/t...ss_system.html

2.) My 08 535's headlights automatically turn off when i shut off the car completely, not sure why yours isnt?

3.) I think its safe to say that everyones dvd/nav player makes that same noise - the sound of the disk turning before you start the car, after you shut it down and while driving. Mine makes this noise all the time. I dont think the newer models with the CiC (newest idrive) have this issue because if im not mistaken they dont use disks in those.

Hope this helps, good luck

Sorry to assume the obvious, but is the headlight switch set to the left? Sounds like it might be turned to the right.

I know that with my switch set to right, my lights still turn off when i shut the car off. Is this an added feature i have? Some sort of battery saver mode?

Yah, more or less all the cars made in the last few years does this.

Just so it helps and clears things up, whenever I have the light switch to the left for auto or to the right for parking or headlights they remain on when I turn the car off. Kinda wierd being that this car is so new. Like I mentioned earlier, my 2001 325ci would turn off when I turned the car off, got me really wondering why my car seems to be doing this.
