My Ride: 2004 BMW 545i
I have an 04' 545i non-sport, I think, auto tranny. By my gear shift, I have the +/- sign. When in drive and pull to the left, it says DS and If I go up/down, it shows M1 to M6. Now, what is the proper way to shift when I go manual from M1 to M6? When I reach high RPM, do I take my foot of the gas then shift? Or do I just leave the gas pedal depress when shifting? I have tried both and did really know the correct way and/or if one way was bad for the tranny. Please let me know, appreciate and input..........

Leave your foot on the depressed on the accelerator when manually up shifting in DS. When down shifting, lift your foot off the accelerator.

For an automatic it doesnt matter. Whatever you prefer.
For SMG slight lift will help smooth it out, but not required.
For a manual, lift of gas whenever you shift.
