cobradav,
Is there anything there that says anything about DIESELING sound coming from petrol engines. I have develop a little annoying dieseling sound (it actually sounds like a diesel) when in iddle at time or after coming to a stop. my shop foreman says that CIP 23XX will fix it as he saw it in his computer but i dont see it in your report. Could you check with your resources?
That is entirely possible. There have been several instances where some other code was modified (this might be in ECU in this case) but since it was not put there in response to a specific set of complaints it was not listed. And in some cases some fixes were listed after the initial release as BMW centers would report on results. So I agree with your shop foreman that BMW service centers may have additional info on CIP 23 fixing other things (and sadly - breaking some other things that were working). My SA is off today so no chance to check with him right away.

Is the an automatic update or do you have to ask for it? My SA is a PITA.

Just drove my '06 530xiT back from the dealership with 23.X progman flashed.

1. Good news: The 'Lawyer Screen' (a USA feature  )now dissapears by itself after a 10 second interval after bootup (and I have a Navi system)!

Bad news:
It still stays there, even if you are in a rush to get goint, when you put car in reverse. The PDC gong sounds when one is to close to something - but until the Lawyer Screen clears - one cannot see if its front or rear.
Solution: Have the PDC screen override the Lawyer Screen or provide 'patience' pills to all drivers - those behind the wheel or in the backseat.
2. I also had the new iPod interface installed - looks good so far. One hour (@ US $104.00) of labor on top of the cost of the module (US $338.94 - they may have taken an extra markup ). It is very nice to be able to scroll thru one's Playlists on the big screen, rather than looking down at the iPod at highway speeds. (Paragraph Updated 9/21/06 12:36 AM EDT)
These are my very preliminary views - I hope to have screenshots and a more detailed update later.

cobradav:

I thought from a few previous posts that this Progman 23.XXX.XXX was going to fix the rough idle at cold start-up on 550i. I do not see any mention of this in this update. Are the Progman updates cumulative or must they be installed sequentially to get all the updates in earlier Progman versions?

If u go from CIP 18 to CIP 23 u get all the cummulative benefits of the changes inbetween. If u look at post #10 (Don Juan) his shop foreman is saying it should take care of the rough idle as well. Only those that have the problem and get the upgrade can really know.

I have a 2006 530xi, and when I start the car in the morning and try to back out of the garage, the engine will surge three or four times as I am backing out. By surging, I mean the engine will sound like someone "blipped" the throttle. Keep in mind this is happening with the transmission engaged, so I have to keep my foot on the brake pedal (my right foot in on the brakes, nothing is touching the gas pedal).

Does CIP 23 fix this? I have CIP 20 (I think 20.01, but don't know for sure).
