SUBJECT

MODEL
E60, E61 (5 Series)

E63, E64 (6 Series)

SITUATION
Customer may complain of the following:

The following software errors were corrected with the release of Progman 20.01.00 (Target data Status E060-05-12-510).

While driving, the SMG control module switches to emergency program. SMG Fault Code 5101 (Hex) "Analyze hydraulic sensor" is stored. (E60 M5 only) Refer to SI B23 01 06.

Check Engine Light is on, DME FC "2F4F vehicle speed plausibility" (N62TU only).

The following software errors were corrected with the release of Progman 20.00.00 (Target data Status E060-05-12-500).

Poor Idle quality after a cold start. N62TU engine.

Engine juddering/idle speed surging when it is cold. N52 engine.

Engine pinging under light load. N62TU engine.

After programming the CID (Central Information Display) using Progman V19.x, the CID is blank and fault "A469 Internal Electronics Failure" is stored. Progman 20.00.00 prevents this programming failure. If the fault already exists the CID needs to be replaced.

The following software errors were corrected with the release of CIP 19.02.03 (Target data Status E060-05-09-535).

No software corrections included in this version of CIP

It was released yesterday. I had my car updated the day before yesterday and I got v20. I don't need 20.01 anyway.

Service Bulletins and actual in hand dates at dealers often differs greatly. Dealers should have it at least be the notice as they download it via their BMW Centernet. But some still remain clueless. Also I believe there is a disconnect between techs and SAs in many dealerships.

Where do you live? Regardless, the only way to get software updates is to go to your dealer and have them do the installation.

Once you get your hands on the software you need only fork over about $3500 for the SSSr2 workstation, and a few $100s for cables and a monitor (SSSr2 cost does not include monitor) to attach to your car and then you're on your own. Make sure you tuck the car away out of site or touch, start process, go to bed and wake up to the new u. However, before u start make sure no hardware problems by running your "Measures" plan. Replace any bad parts from your stock room supply of CCCs, CIDs, DMEs, M-ASKs, EGSs or other sundry parts otherwise it may be all for naught

On the otherhand, for slightly less $$ (free if you have issues covered under warranty) have the dealer do it.
