I usually just change parts because its fun to do not because they could be worn out or anything like that.

Worn out shocks will not change the stance of the car. The controling factor for the stance are the springs. Look for a broken spring or damaged spring seat on the shock(s).

LOL. I have a 129K miles and they're perfectly fine! Change thrust arm bushings and ball joints and other bushings on time and your shock should last a long time.
HOW will you know when you need shock replacement....YOU WILL KNOW. because your car will bounce on it's springs. You ever seen one of those old cars bouncing on the freeway after hitting the slightest dip? There you go!

Anyway, OP - I have stock sport suspension. First, you could have a bent arm or two or car may have been in an accident. SOMETHING is pushing your wheel forward and it DEFINITELY is not a shock unless you have a bent shock or it's coming out of the shock mount. Open your hood and look at the rubber on the shock mount (the peice that has 3 bolts and your vin) and see if its broke or something else. jack up your car and look at all the arms and bushings....compare with the other side. If you don't know about any of this take it to an INDY and have them look at the car. Don't say too much just let them tell you whats wrong. Something looks bent or out of place on that side,.

I disagree with a bad spring. If a spring is bad you will hear it hitting hard. a spring should NOT push the wheel forward it will lower or raise the car thats it. It's responsibility is to work against the shock. if it's bad it will lower the shock. From these pictures the wheel is pushed forward. OR ARE THESE PICS SIDEWAYS? LOL IF SO THEN I AGREE COULD BE A SPRING. Or could be that you need to loosen the wheel carrier and adust it on the shock itself. Someone may have done this and not positioned it the same on both sides.

Achtung - the car is lower. The wheel isn't pushed forward, that is just the pics turned on their side. It can be a broken spring, it could also be worn control arms (not as likely since he has issues with the REAR wheel). It could also be, as ACHTUNG suggested, a bent control arm or shock.

Yes that's why I asked lol. I responded and then re-looked and thought it could be a turned photo because sometimes my phone does that.
But I thought that it may help someone in the future. Now I don't know if it's front wheel or rear. If rear wheel carrier or spring sag (not necessarily bad, but going bad)

There were other threads in this forum about this , several people have had it and people say that its like that so when you get in the drivers seat it evens out. I personally never believed it should be like that but Im surprised no one has come in insisting its supposed to be like that and that it hasent been mentioned all of a sudden.

Looks like we covered every part of the rear suspension lool
My understanding is that ride height of the front passenger side is a little lower than the driver side out of the factory. The rear's should be even. I could be mistaken though. Maybe the rear passenger side is also lower out of the factory.
There are a couple of threads regarding the front passenger side being lower but I can't find them at the moment.

The only other thing I could add is that there's really no rear "shock mount" as somebody posted, i.e. like the front strut mount. The rear spring sits on a rubber (basically indestructable) pad on top of the shock, with a pad on top, hardware, bump stop, cap and then the bolt. The cap assembly has studs that stick up, and are bolted into the vehicle's mounting area inside the trunk. But there's really no consumable replacement for the mounting area.

My 2004 530i (sport suspension) is wearing badly all 4 tires on the inside (front slightly more).
I took the car to an aligment place and they told me all is within spec (toe, cam, etc), they suggested the Shocks could be bad (60K miles on them) and they could be the could the cause for the uneven wear. They also mentioned a little bit of play in the lower arms, but they also told me they have seen worst and the wear is even.
Does any one here has experienced a similar situation? Thanks.
