I recently brought my vehicle in for service because the stalk shifter was not returning to the default location when I pushed the "P" button. Seems from my discussion with the SA that this may be a common problem and could disable the car. They replaced it, however the in stock unit they replaced it with, has the potential to have the same problem. BMW has informed the SA that they are shipping updated units, presently they are on backorder and will arrive in 7-10 business days.

Has anyone else had a problem with their stalk shifter?

One of my colleagues has gone through 2 or 3 on his 535.

When you say "stalk shifter" is that the same as the steering column?

My replacement shifter is doing the same thing so it does look like this is an issue that needs to be addressed with a redesigned part...
