Well, all of you in US are in better position when it comes to accesories offered (compered to Europe).
There some 40-50 items more and some of them come in very handy, like tire pressure gauge or some handy key rings etc. As I will be travelling to West Coast in two weeks I found a dealer near my hotel and asked for a quotation. In total I asked for 10-12 items. To my surprise I was offered only MSRP (total offer is allmost 800 US$). I asked the dealer for some discount (as I saw some other dealers discounting), but no, he says:"... we do not discount on parts..."
Is this standard policy or just a dealer that allready has too much work on his shoulders?
Thanks for any imput.
PS. I am travelling to San Diego, California....

Some discount and some don't. In fact, I've found some really shady pricing practices at a number of dealers. I've got two local dealers. One typically sells at MSRP, but will discount on large purchases or for CCA members. The other one marks their prices up OVER MSRP (sometimes as much as 20%) and then offers a CCA discount (10%). Their "wholesale" prices to local independent shops are typically at MSRP.

In other words, I'm not surprised...

Heck, even the guys peddling BMW stuff on ePrey won't bend on price, but one was "kind" enough to offer a slight discount on combined shipping (NOT 2 for 1); I need touchup paint and a tire gauge. I thanked him, but did not order.

There's big money in parts. I remember back in the 90s when I needed a new rear muffler assembly for my 87 535iS, for grins, I checked with Midas, and surprise surprise, their price was about $9 cheaper than the OEM price ($400+).

That's what is so nice about the Newport, RI dealer who offers discounts here; truly a rare and kind offer.

Cheers,
Ray Hull

A case in the point...the windshield wiper concentrate was priced at $7.20 by one dealer in my area but was priced at $4.20 at my dealer. Ouch. Thats a difference of ~75%.

Yes, dealers in the US usually offer discounts on parts for BMWCCA members.

Another question is how do we find out what MSRP prices are for accessories?

Thats your problem... you called San Deigo. They dont have many dealers there... no competition so no discount. Which dealer did you call?
Cunningham? Brecht?

I don't think we have more accesories than in Germany. The dealers there have so much more than US dealers. Whenever Americans do European Delivery they always go to the parts dept at the Munich dealer to see what cool stuff they have that's not available in the US.

Try to purchase through the person that sold you the car. When he brings me to the cashier, they will give me 10 to 15% discount.

No chance of discounts in the UK, unless they are clearing old stock.
