So my key fobs stopped working, as did one of my power windows, fog light burned out again, so did my reverse light. same one. again. - so I had my car brought in to have that stuff fixed. Those of you who know me and my cars history know how much time it spends at the dealer, multiple fuel pump issues, fuel injectors, amongst other smaller things.

I get a phone call from the service manager explaining that they noticed a leak coming from my power steering rack and that they had to replace the entire power steering rack & pinion. Well 7 days later I am waiting for my car to be dropped off. should be here in a few- providing the service driver doesnt break down in my car due to another unrelated issue.

My question is... Do you think I got a free alignment out of the deal? I dont know to what is involved with replacing a rack & pinion. Would it be neccessary to do an alignment once everything is reassembled. Anyone know what the parts and labor on this job would have cost if it wasnt under warranty. I emailed my contact at BMW NA who has been tracking my issues about this- asking only for a warranty extension based on my cars history- just through the end of my lease terms, as I will go over the 50K mark. No response.

They had to have performed an alignment on the car because the repair you described basically involves undoing most of the front suspension components. When you get your car back, make sure they did an alignment, if not, take it back.
