Default Possible Transmission? I need help

So basically my car was having transmission problems (Would rev into the redline going from 1st to 2nd, hard downshifting, even harder time getting up to speed sometimes). To fix it, I would turn the car off and turn it back on, and the car would act normal for a brief period until the problems reoccurred. Eventually one time, it didn’t fix it, and my car wouldn’t shift gears and shown transmission malfunction on the control messages. I didn’t have the funds to fix it, so it sat for about 6 months until about a week ago. I buy a new transmission, and found a local mechanic that would put in the new one for a decent price. While he’s swapping it out, he finds some wires that have been chewed by rats. We couldn’t figure out where but the damage wasn’t too bad. He puts in the new one so we can diagnose the problem. So we crank up the 528i to see if it’ll change gears. The car cranks up, BUT it still won’t change gears still. I noticed that the the car’s electronics doesn’t seem to recognize that I’m engaging the brake as I switch because the control message kept popping up. But the thing is, the car’s brake lights do come on and we know the brakes aren’t faulty. So basically from what I described, what could the issue be? Also whenever he plugs in the machine to read problems, only the knock sensor pops up

You need to read the actual error codes. Your mechanic can obviously not do that with his equipment. The AT is usually VERY reliable, so changing it was not the best idea. There are some things to check before such a big operation. Fluid level, mechatronic valves, ...

Can you tell me how to access and see the CCID codes from the Service Info? I can’t find a video to do it on a 2008 528i

It's in here:

You do need INPA. This is not a 1999 Ford.
