My Ride: E61 530dT -04
Default

Hello, I am new to this forum and this is my first post.
I am a owner of a E61 530dT -04 with 218 hp and soon it will be time to change the particle filter according to the Idrive service menu. A new filter costs around 1500 euro according to BMW here in Sweden.
However, I wonder if it is possible to replace the filter with another filter from a used car? The replacement filter has run about 70000km and the expected lifespan of the filter is 170000 km.
What possible problems could occur if any?
Hoping for help for this one...

The filters don't cost 1.500 Euro even in Sweden (15,000 kronor).

But yes, they are expensive (maybe 1,500 kronor), but only a new filters are valid for the next 70 k km's.
That's about what they hold.

A used filter may be OK but has seen some regeneration stress in its life. Mileage is of course a factor, but driving behaviour is more important as it impacts filter regeneration, temperature deltas and therefore lifetime.

I've seen some brand new particle filters for the E60 on the German ebay for reasonable prices. Check it out.

I find this question to be unneccesary...

The E60 is a car of such value that of course you should have this replaced with a new part.... why take the chance...

this filter is 8.500 ISK in Iceland... i can't beleive its more expensive in Sweden...
