Hello,

I have a brand new LCI 2008 BMW E60 European spec car with the HiFi-package (not Logic7). Is it possible to play MP3 CD's with this setup? The manual is only in swedish, but it seems that it does support MP3 CD's (the manual doesn't include any settings). And yes, I have tried to burn CD's with the exact settings given here in the other thread. I have tried both Verbatim and Maxell CD-R's, both gave me the same error. So if someone knows if this setup indeed supports MP3 CD's and what settings I should use, please help me out. Thanks.

Hi. Only the Prof Radio system can play mp3s. not the standard one.

If you got the Nav option, then you should have the Prof radio system.

I forgot to mention that I don't have Navi, but I assumed 2008 E60 with HiFi package would support MP3 CD's. Does anyone know for sure?

It MAY be so that you need the USB option to be able to play mp3 CDs but I'm not 100% sure - I have the USB opt and my "Business" CD plays mp3's perfectly. (I have no OEM navi)

That said, this would mean that the hardware is able to recognize and play CDs with mp3 content and the limitation resides in the programming or some "feature unlock" in the CD device....It might be even so that your dealer could activate mp3 support in your CD by some re-programming.
I'd suggest a trip to your dealer and ask him to activate mp3!

My dealer said that it would indeed support MP3 CD's, and when I asked for the software upgrade he said that those will be done in the service.
