After a little help from the neighbours, I was able to drive pretty much anywhere I wanted to today on Avon sports tyres. Mixture of a very clever traction control, responsive throttle and an auto box that seems to know when to change up. I had an easy journey despite the worse snow I have driven in in this country.

I am very impressed it has to be said, especially when a neighbour making the same journey in an E class had to get a tow

Some pics from this morning

I agree but, unless I'm mistaken, the tires he has are not designed for winter/snow use. If so, then imagine what you'd be able to do with proper winter tires!

Yep, these are just summer, unidirectional sport tyres: http://www.avon-tyres.co.uk/index.php?page...tail1&tid=2 fitted after I couldnt stand the RFTs anymore and havent regretted it all. The grip and handling today has been perfect. The only time I had trouble was the snow got stuck under the car and lifted the rear wheels off the ground, leaving me with a distinct lack of traction.

The whole day I left it in drive, only once put it into M2 to get up a hill and didnt want it to change up and loose traction.

Sorry for your trouble, but it does make for some beautiful photos. The one where the car is cleaned off and the houses and trees in the background are covered in snow looks like a page from a BMW brochure.

I'm in MK too but forgot about trying to go anywhere when I woke up. Building Snowmen and playing with the boy in the garden is much more fun than work!

I love how you got a family member to trek along the pavement to get ahead of you before you moved off, just to take a couple of pictures. Nice work!! Haha!

More forecast for us tonight dude!!

Fortunately I don't drive mine in snow, however, my wife drives her 1998 528i in the snow with 4 blizzacks and weight in the trunk depending on quantity of snow. light 1 bag TUBE SAND, med snow, old battery and/or cement block, heavy 2batterys plus sand and cement block. Never gotten stuck.
