My Ride: Oxford Green E60 530D with tuning box and all the toys!
Oxford Green - Black looks great, but only when clean. Grey/silver accentuates the lines, but then EVERYBODY has grey/silver and I might be mistaken for a rep/company car man. E60 is too big to look good in blue and that just leaves that baby poo 'olivine'. That is just hideous - no explanation necessary. So, only Oxford Green left! It is marginally less difficult to keep clean than black and you don't see many that colour around. Downside is that if you inadvertently carve up someone, they will instantly recognise your car in a car park etc!
Now when I get to choose my M5 colour, I may have different ideas ....
All in my very humble opinion.

Olivin Metallic, Dakota Black Leather, Active Steering, Automatic Gearbox, Adaptive Headlights, Alloy Wheels 122, Auto-Dim Int + Folding Ext, Dynamic Drive, Through Load System, Lumbar Support - fr seats, Xenon Headlamps, Space Saver With Jack, BMW 6 Disc CD Changer, Maple Wood
Olivin. To stay out of the crowd. What was directly against dealer's advice to choose grey.

Golfnut,
Oxford green is a brave decision. My dealer has had a new Oxford Green 530i in his showroom for the past 5 months and can't shift it due to the colour. They are prepared to offer a huge discount to entice someone to buy this car
The rarest colour must be copper metallic which was available at launch but quickly discontinued. I have seen one on the road and thought it looked awful. No one on this board seems to have this colour and I don't recall ever seeing anyone having Amethyst either.

My Ride: Currently in a 2003 e46 M3 Cab
Waiting to get a 535d Sport with individual and all the extras...
I had an e39 in Sterling Grey and it looked great
Carbon Black is nice as it is almost prismatic paint in that it does look black or very dark blue day to day, under some lights it can be more blue, and under others it comes out purple.

Schwarz II (Euro) is probably the same colour as Jet Black in the US? When I ordered my car I wanted it black. My dealer told me that none in Sweden had ever chosen the Schwarz II non-met. black on a E60. He recomended the Saphire Black instead, that is the one I took. The other day I saw a non-met. E46 at my dealer. Now I know I made the right choice, non-met. black looks cheap, there is no depth in it.

Mine is orient blue with beige interior, like my last E39.
Blue... like the sea, the sky...raSAILOR, you know
I think that looks best also when clients see it. Have to think at that...

Mine is Jet Black (my 3rd BMW car in that colour). In general I like it but I am fed up with maintenance....I want my next e60 in specific colour(not exotic)... too many same looking cars ... My favorites are Sterling Grey (Z4) and Mineral Silver (6-series)....

Silver Grey because I don't want to be pointed out in a mass so easily. And of course it looks nice! I have to admit that I'm dull in person when you see me on the street.

Oliven Green: Because our Lexus is silver and this was a "Non-BMW" color. Its different than most BMWs in our neighborhood. There are too many BMW's here in San Diego. I'd swear 20% of the cars are BMW's!
