poor mpg in winters

Not the hijack the thread here, but when its cold out I always press the snowflake button immediately after I hit auto because I thought it would run the compressor needlessly in the winter. Are you saying that even with the compressor light on, the car may not be running the compressor? Does this work the same on all E60s?

With the compressor light on, if it is below a certain temp, the compressor will not run. Also, you should always leave the "snowflake" light on. 1: It will dehumidify the windshield when neccessary. 2:You will be lubricating the "o" rings in the system so they don't crack. 3: the manual says so
