My Ride: 520d LCI, old engine, manual, black dakota, platingrau II, standard (242?) rims.
Who owns an LCI with white bars moving? I allowed for a difference between LCI diesel cars and LCI petrol cars.

You learn something everyday, until I started reading these posts about the moving white bars in the tachometer I didn't even realise that they did move as the engine warmed up! I made a point of looking this morning and yes, they do move. It's a rather primitive arrangement though and similar to the 'econometer' in that you don't actually get any really useful information from it!!

IMHO it's far from primitive and directly related to the maximum recommended revs as the engine warms up.
Far more useful that a blue light than goes out or "C/N/H" or even an actual temperature (whatever that would mean).

My Ride: My ex-ride: EU '08 LCI 520dA. Space Grey, Sport Seats in Black Leather/Fabric Anthracite, Sport Steering Wheel, A/C with Extended Features, Hi-Fi Speakers, Cup Holders, Cruise with Braking function, Folding Rear Seats, Xenons, Park Distance Control.
If it would be taken off, it should be replaced with cooling wather-, engine oil- and gearbox oil temp -meters.
The AC/heating systems gives you warm or cold when it's ready to do so and the white stripes tells you not to top rev.
If the engine is overheated a warning light will indicate that.
I'm happy.
