Yes, you can find POI's but finding the right menu is the tricky part.
Whether you're actively navigating or not, go to "new destination" and then scroll over to "information." From there, you should see something like "information on location" and "information on destination." From there, you should be able to figure things out.
Keep in mind that the above wasn't verified by looking at my car so I might be off a small bit on the wording or the locations of the features.
Good luck...

Just picked up my 2006 525i (E60)a few weeks ago and I am having a blast playing with all the features. My first BMW and I am having so much fun, I feel like a teenage again.
Got DVD nav installed and works like a charm, but does this version have a "Points of Interest" feature, gas, hotels, food locations. The DVD is 2005-02, North American and Canada.
Awesome site, been a big help so far.
Thanks for any help,

Hi !
I'm in Europe and often use the POI option. However, I did not figure out how to search for a POI which would be the closer to the car. You have to specify a destination, or use "actual location", but if the town you are in has no POI that you selected, it just says "No POI", and it does not look for the closest POI...
Any help appreciated.

I'm betting the language may be off a bit but I'm thinking that the process will be similar.
Let us know what you find out...

Worked like a charm. When you have your destination selected or current position, then select information and it brings up another menu that breaks it down, appearl, food, gas, hotels, emegency services.
Very nice feature,
Thanks
