My Ride: Nov 2003 530D SE Auto in Mystic Blue with Grey Dakota Leather, Business Nav. Star Spoke 124 18"s, Blootooth Preperation.
Modifications so far: M5 spoiler, M5 trunk finisher, hometronic rear view mirror, Maple Wood interior trim.
Mods to come: M5 style quad exhaust and M5 rear bumper, Dechroming, black ebay grilles, tints, upgrade to factory amp, by the time I've done these, I'm sure I'll have thought of some more....
There are a few plasticky bits in my e60 which Id like to see a better material used on. do bmw have anything other than plastic for these pieces:
the plastic trim around the electric window switches
(in the case of automatic cars) the plastic trim inbetween the leather gaiter and the (in my case) wood trim,
oo, as im typing this post, i've just found the kind of thing im looking for!

If only it was available in maple wood! Im not sure about this carbon/wood combination, doesn't do it for me

so has anyone seen anything other than plastic around the elec window switches?

That is not carbon fibre trim. It is called "aluminum cube pure". Look closely and you can see the 3D cube pattern on it. It should only go with silver and black to look good.

the first pic actually looks nice...
the second... BIG
in my opinion...
like nickolas_g pointed out one way or the other (wood or aluminum) not both at the same time...
and that BMW logo really needs to be removed from the idrive knob looks funny and embarrassing...

yes I fully agree, the first pic is good, but I have wood, and the carbon sure doesn't look like it goes with it at all! Do you notice the wooden handbrake too ? dont think thats a bmw part, anyone seen one? has anyone seen any other material for that piece other than those two options above I've come across (aftermarket)? and the window switch areas? anyone done anything with those?
