. I hope there was/is nothing wrong with the car. I looked at the carfax report before purchasing and nothing out of the ordinary was stated.

Yes, I keep mine in my wallet too.
It cost me about $46 USD for it. Just take out the key holder from the glove box and insert the key then insert into the key slot on the steering column -- it will start your car.

Well for cars that do not have the start/stop button it is. The manual states "This key does not fit in the locks of the luggage compartment lid and the glove compartment. This is an advantage when valet parking, for example.".
Again this is only applicable to cars without the start stop button.
