I'm pretty sure that the result will be just the same. The Alarm will be disarmed.
paasan needs to report this to his dealer.

I'm pretty sure also -- it really looks as if paasan's key is messed up in some way.

Maybe it has to be "re-married" to the car somehow?

You are of course correct Rudy, I was just grasping at straws to explain the delay when there is no obvious reason for it.

Gothcha. As I said above, I think it's clear that there is something wrong with paasan's key (or car).

Iceman is most likely correct in explaining why the 10 or 20 seconds makes a difference in paasan's problem. The motion sensor is on a small delay.

I tried my key today and everything works like it should. I can even roll down and up the windows with it. I am impressed

As with the E39 wallet key, there is a transponder buried in the head of the plastic key. Without this chip, the car wouldn't start.

I'm not sure but I think the presence of the chip is detected by the car even though the chip is "passive" (i.e. no power required).

I'm thinking that the batteries in the master keys (the one that is recharged through the metal key) is really only for the remote RF transmitter.

You are correct, I failed to mention that I use the key hole on the drivers door to let the windows up and down.

I knew what you meant. I was replying more to the "I am impressed" comment -- I'm just as impressed!

Visited the dealer today, and they agreed that something is wrong. They assumed this is a programming issue that would easily be resolved. Still kind of odd though.
