Hi everyone,
i've always loved the 5 series.
i'm planning on buying a used 2007 530xi which had about 104,000 miles on it.
i currently have a 2002 325xi, bought it used with 45,000 miles on it, i put 100,000 on it and its still running strong. I plan on selling it to get myself the mentioned 5 series
i do all the little maintenance on it myself, (oil change, brake pads, rotors, rotations).
questions i have are:
what are everyone elses experience with a 2007 530xi with 100,000+ miles on it? when did the shocks start to give out? any issues with wheel bearings? any engine issues? etc
and my main concerns are: how is everyone coping with the electronic issues (sensors etc). i've read a lot of about how a lot of sensors go off, particularly the AWD, and ABS.
if you do have any electronic issues, how did u fix them?
hope to hear from you guys!

I hope the price is good because 100k is a lot of miles. I believe you well know these cars can get expensive quickly. Good luck with your search.

Pull every maintenance and warranty service record before you pull the trigger. IMHO, even if the '07 is pristine that price is high for an '07 530xi w/100k + miles. What options does it have? CA, HUD, PDC, Premium, Sport (in the xi it's mostly dress-up stuff), Logic7 / Sat Radio? Carefully driven the brakes are probably good for 60K miles so they should be on the second set but getting ready to be replaced. Cooling systems are problematic - were radiator, overflow tank, and water pump replaced recently? And last - but not least - how's the transmission behaving? Any hint of stuttering or mis-shifting means an expensive replacement might be next in line.

it has the premium package with Navigation and the winter package.
also has: Heads Up Display, Moon Roof, MP3/DVD Player/Logic7/HID
engine oil, coolant was replaced in the month of Jul 2012.
it doesnt have PDC or sport package.
what is CA and IMHO?
I will ask for all the work that has been done under it and should get it tomorrow.
i didnt check the transmission and that is one of my biggest fears. I will be getting a PPI (pre-purchase inspection at a BMW), i think it will be worth it, and i will ask about the transmission.
how do i tell if the transmission is about to go? just get a feel if it is shifting smoothly?
the brakes look they're good for another 40-50k, but the rotors definitely looked like they will need to be changed in the next brake job.
thanks for the insight luigi524td!

I will also be considering a 2007 530xi, will be keeping an eye on this thread. I have my eye on a pretty loaded, no heads up but appears to have most other options like Premium, Sport, cold weather, Navi, .... waiting for the VIN so I can get the actual options. It have 77K miles on it.....that are asking $20K+/-. Sounds high??
