Red,
I thought about the sport package but do not like the harshness of the ride and I like comfort seats ore than sport seats. The only item that really interests me from the sports package is the ARS. The active steering is something I can live with or without so no loss there but the nav is something I still have not ruled out totally. I must admit I am not a big fan of BMW nav units. I think they are over priced for their limited capability. You can accomplish the same task with a much less expensive portable unit.
I could have the car in Feb if I wanted it but I will shoot for Apr/May timeframe.

The ARS absolutely sold me the first time I took an Autobahn exit at about 60 mph and the car kind of "squatted" into the turn as if to say..."Is that all you've got the give me?" After that, I decided I would sacrifice a little firmness to recreate that feeling any chance I got. You can still get comfort seats with the sports package--I did and the seats are wonderful!
Completely agree on nav being overpriced; I have a portable Garmin 2610 bought over 2 years ago that was much cheaper and works way better and is PC programmable...but having the nav integrated and most importantly for resale value changed my mind. Dealer here said they had a 525 on the lot for 8 months last year because it didn't have Nav. Also agree w/ you on active steering; I didn't get it either.
And as someone else said...everyone will try to sell you what they got or keep you from making a mistake they made...and that's one of the benefits of the forum!
Anyway you slice, it will be happy.

It is never ending. If you get the Nav then you have to give HUD serious consideration too. You really can't go wrong though. Just depends on how much you are willing to spend. I love the sport package too, and would never buy a BMW without it. But to each his own, so good luck. Yes, the wait is brutal...I have been planning my car for about 6 months now and it will be at the dealer tomorrow (12-12). I probably will not be able to pick it up for 3 days after that due to being out of town. Argh!

Katheikia,
I noticed you have the spt pkg with comfort seats (I did not realize that was possible). Did you get any credit towards the comfort seats by ordering the spt pkg or did (in true BMW fashion)
they hit you with the whole $1200 charge? If comfort seats are possible with spt pkg that may be something to consider

I'll pitch in here; I got the Sports package with Comfort seats; no credit given, but still worth it. Comfort seats are best I've ever sat or driven in. Red

I respect your choices but you MUST get SPORTS PACKAGE. A Bmw just doesnt feel the same without it. The E60's sport suspension is not as rough as previous models + you get ARS. I had a 2002 540 with sports suspension and I have to agree the ride was very stiff, but now on my 550 its perfect. Just my 02 cents. GODD LUCK WHATEVER YOU CHOOSE ![Thumbsup](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/thumbsup.gif)

Finally did it today...I swallowed the bullet and placed the order on my 550i this morning. I put delivery off until the spring as the weather is changing now and no need to make payments while it sits in the garage. Thanks to all of you for such valuable information as I racked my brain over this decision.
Details:
Black Sapphire
Auburn interior
Anthracite Maple Wood
Anthracite Headliner
Steptronic
Comfort Seats
Comfort Access
Premium Sound Pkg
Cold Weather Pkg
Rear Seat Heating
Rear Side Impact Airbags

B2,
Great choice in options, although I must say like fellow members, the Sport Package is highly recommended...and you're getting the new V8 (well, at least it was first seen on the X5) with a rated output of 360HP.
