Pink Connector. What is it for? BMW E60 Aug 2005 model

Wonder if anyone can help identify what this pink connector (see attached) is for.
its hidden under the driver's steering wheel.

Did you take something apart and forget where to put it?
Does it matter what it's for? It's obviously something your car is not equipped with.
