That's the iPod interface cable. The iPod/USB interface is on the other side of the console so it wouldn't be visible in the picture. You have to assume that if he has the cable, he probably also has the interface.

I think he took the picture at that angle to show the "vent" that he was asking about in the OP...

Yup, I had to order the IPod/USB interface as an extra option. The cables are unplugged because I was testing out a 1.0GB USB Key to see if it would play mp3 files from it, which it did. Definately will be taking more pics soon.

Here are some more pics this time of the interior. Some of them are double but thats because one is taken with flash on and other with flash off.
If you look in one of the pics below with the iDrive showing the communication menu you can see it has paired with the Samsung SGH-i607 (Blackjack). I was able to successfully pair the Samsung Blackjack with the car by doing a registry mod that I found while searching the internet. Otherwise, it wouldn't pair at all or just pair for a few seconds and then disconnect. So now after the registry mod on my phone with Windows Mobile 5.0 I can use the bluetooth interface fine I just can't transfer my address book to car. Its either I manually dial the number on the iDrive or place a call through my phone's contact list, which will then route it through the car's bluetooth. As long as it pairs with the car I'm fine, however; if anyone has figured out how to transfer the Blackjack's address book to the car please let me know.

MP3 CDs play fine and even display the ID3 tags. I'm pretty sure it can display both ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags that song in the picture below happens to have both so I don't know which one would take precedence. Varible Bit Rate files play fine in my car except there is a slight skipping when the song initially starts up but after that it plays fine. I tried playing mp3 files encoded at 320kbps with 44.1khz sampling frequency but those don't work. I also tried 160kbps at 48khz and those don't work either due to higher sampling frequency, so the best file that I was able to use was 192kbps at 44.1khz or a VBR file at 44.1khz that doesn't jump rates pass 192kbps too often. Winamp shows you the variable bit rates that the file is playing at but not sure how accurate Winamp measures VBR files. BTW I used Nero 6.6.1.4 to make the MP3 CD so I wasn't able to set the Joliet mode like it was stated in an FAQ on this forum, but the MP3 CD played fine on whatever default settings Nero 6 uses for MP3 CD's.
Both the 1.0GB USB key drive and IPod play mp3 files without any problems but I haven't tried 320kbps files on a USB drive yet and I'm assuming playing high bit rate files through the IPod should be no problem since all the processing would be done on the IPod before the sound is transmitted to the sound system.

One file note, the comfort seats are just as the name is stated; very comfortable. But finding the right setting for all the 20 different ways of moment will take some time because it's hard to tell intially which position I feel most comfortable in. At least it gives you another reason to drive the car more so you can experiment with the 20-way seats.

Also anyone have a list of map icons that are displayed on the navigation screen? I tried searching couldn't find anything and the owner's manual doesn't have a list either. Because I am looking for the meaning of a symbol that kind of looks like a house. I'll take a pic of it when I see it on the screen again.
