My Ride: 2005 545i, sport/ premium package, manual transmission, black on black. No add ons yet. Outstanding shape!
Just reading this post and the various comments makes me doubt the logic of my decision to go fr my high miles 545. Even though it is the best drive jive ever had and looks like a million $$$' I just cannot bring myself to rely on such a car for my daily drive. No I am not not inclined for DYI jobs, neither do i
have the time for it. It doesn't make me stupid as someone alluded. At any rate the 545 sitting in my garage just brings me great satisfactio, sometimes mixed with anxiety for when it will be in the shop

Picked up a CPO 2008 535i this past weekend.
The 4-yr factory warranty is up in August 2011 and the CPO warranty is up in August 2013.
They said I have the option of extending my "4-yr maintenance" warranty to match the CPO warranty (6-yr).
At the time, it was $2300+tax and I declined since I don't like to make decisions on the spot without doing my research first. They said I could opt in for this extension until my 4-yr factory warranty expires.
Whats your guys' take on this? I drive ~17k miles a year... 80% highway / 20% city. Live in Chicago, if that matters.

Check to see if the brakes have been done. If you can get them to go down to $1600 (I did) it's worth it for the brake job alone (about $1800) any oil or inspection service after that is just gravy. It was worth it to me. I certainly got more than $1600 in return (1 brake and rotor job ($1800), 1 inspection service ($250), 2 oil changes ($200), 2 sets of wipers ($100)), so I came $750 ahead.

You guys make some good points but I feel like you guys (above 2 posters) are keeping the 5 stock.
Expensive replacement parts are always a good excuse to go aftermarket... which is why I bought this car in the first place (to mod).

My Ride: Current BMWs - 2008 528x, 2011 X3, Previous BMWs - 1999 528i, 1997 528i, 1993 525i, 1989 525i
BMW changes their special incentives from time to time, probably as sales go. I bought a CPO 2008 528xi sport package stick back in March and they had offered the maintenance plan up to the 6 years or 100 miles if I financed $7500. That was a no brainer. I can pay it off after the 6th payment and be done and have maintenance.
I was just shopping to replace by wife's X5 with an 2008 X5 CPO. In late June the 3 incentive choices were all available. When I looked July 1 the only offer is for a special interest rate, no maintenance offer.
Timing!?!?!?!?
Be sure to apply for your BMW CCA discount of $250 if you are a club member . . . nice benefit!

Basically, the maintenance program buys you an extra two years or an extra 50K miles (whichever comes first) in addition to the original 4 yr./50K mile package, making the total maintenance 6yr./100K
