I had the exact issue on my 04. I took the cover off in the trunk. I also removed the small rubber boot in the gas door and noticed the locking pin was not coming through when I locked the car with the remote. I could hear the actuator move back and forth but could not see the locking in. It needed to be removed and repositioned into the slot. Reinstalled the rubber boot and locked it in place by twisting it. So to remove it you a have to spin it. Check to make sure the pin was coming all the way through and it was. Its working normal now. Check to make sure the pin is coming through the ruuber boot inside the gas door and it not it may need to be re-centered. Took me about 30 min to get it working.

Thanks. Thats exactly what I need as I am also hearing the actuator moving back and forth but not seeign anything move.
Could you write a few words on how you got access to the actuator and anything I should look out for, please ? In return ... I will make a DIY for anyone else with this problem and obviously give you credit!

Here's a picture to help with the explanation!

1. Remove the rubber guide that aligns the locking pin into the locking slot from inside the fuel door. You have to turn it a quarter turn to get the plastic to unlock then pull it out.
2. Remove the battery cover inside the truck.
3. You should be able to see the locking assembly #7 it has the small wire attached to it. I removed it to make sure the locking shaft #9 was not bent and long enough to go all the way through into the locking slot.
4. After your remove it reconnect the electric plug and try it a few times.
5. Insert a small wooden dowel or stiff wire into the slot from inside the fuel door all the way to the trunk.
6. Tape the end of locking pin #9 to the dowel or wire so it aligns and reinstall the actuator. This way the locking pin will go where it should into place.
7. Remove the dowel and tighten the two screws #5 in place.
8. Reinstall the rubber guide and turn it a quarter turn to get it to lock into place.
9. Now try to lock again and you should see the end of the locking pin shoot out when you press the lock button on the remote.
10. Pour a glass of wine and enjoy your efforts and savings from not having to go to the dealer.

I have not idea how it got misaligned. It could have been from trying to lock it with the fuel door not totally closed and the pin hit the side it of it an not the slot. Good luck.

Are your back doors locking OK?

I have the same problem but the back doors also fail to lock. Dealer says this is all controlled by one module which is probably failing.

so i had a look a the fuel door shut today and found that the pin has actually been snapped by the previous owner GRRRR. Going to leave it as it is as im thinking of selling up soon ...
