When I had my 07 Camry, some people would ask if it was a V4 I've never heard of a V4 car. IT'S I4 OR V6!!
Or when people ask me how much it costs to fill my tank... I tell them it depends on the price of gas!!!

I can live quite happily with most Americanisms. Internal translator running full steam : Trunk = Boot. Hood = Bonnet. Fender = Bumper. No problem. What really really REALLY bugs me is Gas = Petrol. Petrol is a liquid. It is not a gas. Nitrogen is a gas. Neon is a gas. Steam is a gas. Petroleum is NOT a gas (well, not until it's vapourised in your cylinder anyway).

But that's maybe the chemical engineer in me getting all nerdy .
Fender is not the same as Bumper, by the way... A fender is found above the front wheel, and a bumper is at the front of the car. So no, we don't confuse the two.
And Gas is just short for Gasoline. Just as Petrol is short for Petroleum.
Boots are something you put on your feet in the winter. Why would you call the trunk a BOOT?!?!?!?
Bonnet is just weird...

So you see, we across the pond (I'm Canadian) find your english a bit funny too.
Don't take this as a personal attack please Just defending our bastardized english.

Ahhhh, I'd LOVE to go on about this forever (Eddie Izzard, anyone?
), but for now let's leave it at your recognition of the fact that you have, indeed, bastardised the English language..

Gotta love the forum and all of your input though! I feel right at home..

In West LA seems like ALL cars have curb rash on the rims. Every time I watch someone park their car against the curb, guarantee curb rash and I cringe every time.

I forgot about that one! I find particularly bad if its someone with a great car, even better rims, and they've either curbed it or have only part of the wheel on the curb and the tire is deformed under the pressure I sometimes just want to grab a few people and try to bump the car off the curb to protect the wheel...

forget "save the whale", I'm going to start "save the wheel"
