my 05 BMW which has 34,000 miles that I bought CPO'd in March has had to have the following plastic pieces replaced under warranty due to peeling:
2 pwr window surrounds
2 door pulls ( the piece behind the wood)
surrounding plastic around pwr seat controls passenger side
trim piece around a/c controls
2 trim pieces on steering wheel.
Fortunately the car is still under bumper to bumper warranty-BMW needs to extend the warranty on these faulty trim pieces.

I find it very sad that a 50,000 dollar vehicle does this.
I have a 2003 Ford Ranger that I have had for 5 years-no peeling plastics
My partner's 2006 Lexus IS 250 -no peeling plastics.

I have had 2 BMWs prior to this one and neither of them did it.
Please call customer relations and complain.

Dang what do you guys do to your interior? I dont have peeling plastics. It must be the cleaners you use or the car wash place use or your hand cream.

Search the forums. Several people have this problem. Do not use hand cream-can't be just me if the passenger side pwr window plate peeled as well as the passenger side grey trim piece around the black power seat switches. It is hot here, but, that is no excuse, I have 30 % tint on windows. And as I said I have had 2 other BMWs and they never did this.
BMW needs to take responsibility for its plastics.

I have EXACTLY the same problem. According to my BMW service agent (here in South Africa) it is not a warranty issue, but due to "normal" wear and tear. They also don't want to replace the panels, but want to respray them. This is such bullsh#t!

PS: My car only has 35,000miles on the clock.

Does anyone perhaps know of a service buletin covering "premature peeling" on a E60?

I'd go ballistic if this happened to me within the warranty period! Replacing at BMW's cost would be the only option I'd accept. See about writing to BMW HQ or the local regional HQ.

I wrote a complaint to BMW Asia and lo and behold, the local importer called me up to follow up exactly what my problem/complaint was and was really sensitive since 'big bro' is watching. Could try that....

Getting new a/c trim plate and steering column installed as we speak. Had the driver and passnger window plates replaced about a month ago. My pdc just went out, leaky windshield fluid reservoir, and driver side Bpillar seal has a rip(could be because I rub it on occasion when i exit..I'm 6'4")...thanks goodness it's still under factory warranty!
The door pulls have little nicks but don't bother me for some reason....I'll probably get it replaced before the warranty expires.

Still love her though! I just ordered the short shifter and zhp knob from Garry. Can't wait to install em.

Will
