Default Any way to read stock boost over OBDII?

I know that the OBDII protocol only reads boost from the map sensor on the N54 which only goes up to 17.5psi absolute, hence why my OBD Fusion app only shows 3psi boost. Does anyone know if that is also enforced by the ECU, or if it's just the sensor? I ask because I'm curious if I upgraded the pre-throttle body sensor to one that goes higher if I would then see a higher value over OBDII. This post explains the problem I'm seeing. Seems like most people who want to see boost use a JB4 or another box connected to the ECU. I'm not interested in tuning my car but would like to ensure that after fixing my turbos I am getting the proper boost. Thanks.

You can fit an analogue boost/vacuum gauge to the intake as well.

Agreed... I thought I had a little low boost, I have a JB4 and it seemed low so I put a mechanical in and it is indeed low. My next project is to hunt down the leak. If you're only testing you can literally run a hose out the hood and into the window/dash and look at it. I decided to wire it all up and leave it there. Oh to add.. all my other OBDII readers doesn't like to read the boost. I didn't want to invest in the MHD route since I'm happy with my JB4 for now.

I have my fuel economy gauge hijacked to show boost using the JB4. Shows I'm hitting 13psi on map 1, even after 6+ years tuned.
