My Ride: 2004 530i, Silver Gray, Premium Pkg, Cold Weather package, Black Leather seats with lumbar support, Poplar wood finish.
Mods: M6 19" wheels with 245/35/19 Front Tires 275/30/19 Rear Tires, K&N Filter, H&R Sway bars, Magnaflow Muffler, Sprint Booster, Black front grill, M-tech front bumper, Debadged
I have the same problem but haven't taken the car to the dealer yet. I am also out of warranty.
Is there way to find out if this is a s/w error or a seat sensor issue? I don't want the dealer to just change the sensor when this can be resolved by a s/w update. ~ $1500 is a lot for a sensor, IMHO!
Also - does anyone conclusively know what happens when this error comes up - does the passenger restarint system (airbags) stop working all together. The passenger airbag off/on light on the top console is functioning but the i-drive has the passenger restrainit system error on.
Finally - does anyone have the link for the class action or a SIB the calls this error out?
