SUCCESS AGAIN!
My car is in the shop right now after 30 calls to BMWNA they finally agreed to fix the seat mat with no cost to me. I heard the same story as everyone here, that my VIN wasn't included, but i kept fighting and they're fixing it right now! Good Luck everyone and keep calling BMWNA

SUCCESS!!!
Mine got fixed.
Here is a quick recap:
I bought my e60 a month or so ago. Noticed the error on the idrive about this passenger restraint whatever. Took the car to the dealer. They put it onto the computer, charged me 125 bucks and told me what was the problem. I priced the sensor, but at the time decided to wait to fix it. So i searched this forum, and found that there is a recall about this. So i went bank to the dealer. They checked the VIN and told me that my car isnt on the list of recalled vehicles. So i called BMW NA, and bitched to them about this, told them that this is a safety issue, and people may die, and it will be their fault. So i told to wait, and i waited and waited. No one called me. Then i decided to call myself, and spoke to a supervisor of some sort. She offered me $1500 off a new or used car when i buy one at the dealership. What a joke.... So i bitched again, but that was the only thing she could offer...
Next day or so, i get a call from BMW NA, and they tell me that i can go ahead and take the car in for service, and they would pay 100% of cost. Wonderful i thought, and promptly took the car in for service. Part got replaced, staff was friendly, and they even washed my car.
Happy Customer.
All of you who "are not on the list" - read this again and make conclusions.

Well, last year I had my seat mat sensor replaced, and they goodwilled it. Well then about 1 year later (last month) I had the light come in, so i was thinking why the hell would they goodwill it then... I looked up recall list annd notcied that it was recalled because of the seat mat sensor so I knew they knew something before hand.
Well, this time it wasnt the seat mat sensor though it was the Terminal cable that runs threw the car was bad. I am guessing it doesnt give enough juice for that sensor to work correctly and needs to be replaced

Well this doesn't sound to encouraging, I got this warning in my 2004 530i this past weekend and called the service department on the road Saturday. I had gotten the letter a couple of weeks ago and was just holding on to it until I made it in the dealer next. Well it looks like I'm gonna have a fight on my hands to get them to fix it.... Lovely.

Reviving an old thread with very useful information regarding this problem. My 2004 525i just recently started experiencing this very dangerous passenger restraint fault at only 60k miles. I want to see if anyone has recently been experiencing this (since the thread is so old) I have already printed out the recall paper in this link
http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/pr...type=DrillDown
Next step is to call up a dealer or two (if i get denied) then call BMWNA

Best you can do is file a complaint with NHTSA. If they get enough complaints, maybe they'll investigate and force BMWNA to recall other mats as well. I've filed my complaint over the phone with the NHTSA rep.
