Out of the blue I have started to get a service control message when I start my 2005 545i advising me of a fault with the passenger restraint system. My airbag and seatbelt lights are now staying on after the vehicle is started and it is really annoying. Has anyone else experienced a similar message for no apparent reason? I would appreciate any guidance before I bring the car into the dealership next week to have the problem investigated.

Many thanks!

This message is triggered for a number of actual faults so you can not pinpoint what is causing your problem purely from this message. Generally it is the Passenger Seat Occupancy detector that causes the fault. This is not however always the case. Your dealer will be able to find the fault through proper diagnosis and it should be replaced under waranty. Good Luck
