Did someone try to code the LM or it just started doing it on its own?

You could have exposed wire(s) inside the headlight assemblies. It's a known issue.

So, were your headlights not leveling when you start the car?

Hey guys, I am facing the same issue. I drive a 2009 525i in Qatar(Middle East).Couple weeks back i was hearing a crackling sound from rear(i think it is the battery) for like 2 seconds when i switch off the car. and then now for almost a week i am facing the issue of lights both DRLs and rear lights not turning off even after i have removed the key and locked the car. I turned off the DRLs on the CCC and put the headlight button in off position. Now the rear lights stay on. There i backlight for the hazard light switch which i use as reference as that also remains on. Currently i am managing by multiple insertion and removing of the keys until the lights turn off, which obviously is not a solution. I recently took it to a garage outside as taking it to BMW dealership is very expensive, They told me I have to change both the headlamps, took it to another one they told me its the brake light switch. I just can't process them as solution because the entire backlight of the hazardlight switch and the "P" in steptronic is remaining on. Could it be about the headlight sensor mentioned here? I would really appreciate a help on this.

Thankfully,
Jacob

You should have an existing code which should help you in troubleshooting. Personally, since your car will not sleep, I would do a parasitic draw test to isolate the module then test from there. You can also unplug whatever you think the issue is to see if the car goes to sleep. The dealership said it was the headlights so unplug one and wait 30 mins to see if the car went to sleep. If it didn't move to the next one.

Hard to assist when no much hard information was given other than you have an issue but I hope what I've said helps out.
