parking light failure
#1
I have a UK 2006 520D ( RHD ) with Xenon headlights. The idrive reports a parking light failure from time to time!
I removed the headlight unit to get at the bulb which was out. It was one of the small bulbs right at the bottom and difficult to get at on the car ( right side ).
I managed to remove the bulb and tested it. It was fine! After I replaced the bulb, I turned on the lights and it still didn't work. Having had a similar experience with a Saab,I tapped on the 2 metal boxes on the bottom of the light unit ( I assume relays ? ) and hey presto the light came on.
This continued to work for a few days, but it has failed again.
On the Saab forum I had discovered this was a problem with a particular relay and it advised opening the relay and running solder along some joints, which I did and cured the problem.
Having searched about here, I haven't come across this problem and was wondering if anyone can advise?
The box in question has the following details on it ;
Xenon 12V
1100v DC/85V
5DV 009 000-00
077611000272AP
If it ends up that I need to replace this unit. Can you tell me what it is and a ball park price ?
Will the lights need to be beam set againto comply with UK MOT ?
Thanks in advance.
JK
