Painted trim around hvac & cd controls peeling
#1
Hi,
I'm having a paint peeling problem. The surround where the hvac controls and CD player have started to peel. I would like to replace this. Does anyone know how to extricate this panel.
It looks to be part 32 in this picture.

(how I did it) Start by removing the dash trim piece that runs from the center console to the passengers side of the car in the middle of the dash. I did this by opening the passengers-side door and slowly & carefully inching the trim outward. I used a very small flat tipped screw driver to get it started then I just used my fingers to run the length of it and slowly slide out.
From there you can see the screws at the top of part #32. Once those screws are out the panel should be loose enough that you can gently "pop" it out of place for replacement. I don't recall that there are additional screws.
Good luck! (I really hate that paint peeling too!)

Thanks Kuchar, I'll take a look and give it a go and let you know how it comes out.
I've replaced dashes in my e28 M535i and in my e24 M6 and these were quite easy as all the fasteners are visible. These new cars, all the fasteners are hidden and I don't want to break something while trying to get in there.
