Hi Guys,
There are some cracks on the paint of my 2004 530I hood. The color is dark blue and I am not sure why it happened? I think it is because of the sun. Here I have attached the picture. Does anyone know how I can fix that? It is on the hood and it does not look nice. thanks

It would need to be taken down to the metal, primed and then re-painted. Unless you have the knowledge and the equipment better you take it to a shop. My guess is that it's already been painted. If you wax new paint this can also happen.

+1 most likely it's been repainted there's no doubt.

Check the warranty on paint, it might be longer than standard/CPO coverage (not sure if it is a part of 12 year rust warranty). If you are still covered (which I really doubt), then talk to the dealership and they'll send you to their bodyshop to see if it's the original paint. If not, they are nor responsible.

+2 ... improper prep before repaint can cause this. One of the worst offenders is auto wax containing silicone was used before the paint work and not thoroughly removed before the paint. The second offender is paint laid down too heavy.
A simple repaint on a hood or quarter panel isn't a big deal as long as significant body repair is disclosed during a BMW DEALER sale of a CPO pre-owned. If it wasn't, that's a No-No!!

How can I check the paint warranty on my car? The dealer told me that it is covered but I want to make sure about that. Because some companies have paint warranty more that the general warranty.
I prefer to not repaint it. What do you guys think about polishing or waxing it? Do you think they can help to make it better?

looks like artwork! lol jk but run your finger around the edges of the hood and if you sort of feel rough area's...then it is definitely painted.
