I thought it's a good place to ask a question. I'm looking to replace our family hauler, what is your opinion or experience about Volvo XC90?
I thought going to Volvo forum, but it's not a lot information there. So I thought if people have 5-series so family car would be a some upscale SUV.
I'm looking for 07', 08' or 09'. More likely it would 08'or 09'.

I looked at getting my wife an XC-90 a few years back. Its a pretty nice car when brand new but IMO Volvo's seem to look worn out after 2-3 years.

I wouldn't even classify a Volvo as "upscale" if you are comparing to BMW, MB, Lexus, etc. I'd say its more on-par with a something like a Buick Enclave - which is not bad by any means. I've seen quite a few "soccer moms" drivng them around where I live.

 

My wife bought a '10 new and loves it. Great for hauling the kids, third row for friends and good gargo space in the back. Had it for roughly two years now and mechanically its been great. The interior quality is OK, not great, but acceptable. Needless to say my two boys have been very hard on the back seat between snacks and dirty, sweaty soccer gear. Overall very pleased as a family hauler.

 

Agree. BMW, Lexus.... ect is more luxury SUV.
Also I looked couple them at Volvo dealer, it's true, there are looked a little more worn, then expect for this year. Also, it's nice inside, but plastic is making some noises. But I like a size; it's not big, but has more space then Lexus or BMW. We have 2004 Lexus, and driving on ocean or long trips is getting too tight with two/three kids. Our older doesn't go with us a lot.
A good name is ?soccer mom SUV?. I worry about reliability as any other Volvo (problem with electrical system)

 

We've had a 2004 XC90 for 7-years now. We have two kids and they can be hard on things, but if you take care of your stuff then the car won't look so "aged."

We've had almost no trouble with the car (knocking on wood). If we had to get a replacement vehicle tomorrow then we'd get another XC90.

 

Thanks man, that's I want to hear. Do you have V6 or T5 turbo or V8?

 

We have the V8. If you get the full-time 4WD, the V6 feels a bit under powered... Go with the V8 if you can, its really nice engine.

 

A solid SUV, and I'm also in the market to replace our S60 with one. It's been around for a while and has proven to be reliable.

Drove one 2 weeks ago. Good power, but felt a slight bit cheap inside, and the headliner was coming off a bit in this particular car

We went with the Acura MDx, but Honda Pilot was a very very close second.

 

I love Volvo's
What you wanna avoid - AWD - very common angle gear problem, and repair can cost over $2000+

If you can, buy the T6 version, simple tune and exhaust can give u the same horsepower as V8

Cheaper and easier to maintain versus BMW X5, but we have a RX330 and its very very reliable but be honest, it too common.
