I need to know if any of you guys in here had or has a 2010 or 2011 Golf GTI. I wanted to get a nother project car and frankly I dont like rice burners so I usually stick to German cars.
But like many of you know you have to have good solid base to start with you dont want to start with an Alfa ,lol. Can you please comment on how relaiable or whatever that you might not like about your GTI.

Purist say get the manual but the DSG is some much better especially on turbo'd cars. I had a R32 2008 for 3 years love that thing. Switched to a Jetta TDI its no slouch either. 2010 and 2011 comes down to exterior look ..do you like the Mark V or do you like the new look Mark VI?
i wouldnt worry about the nav its ok. phone or garmin works better as is always up to date. Other than that no real issues

Modding wise ECU Flash is tough cause you have to un rivit the ecu and then send it in, have it reprogrammed and then install it again. 2009 was last year you can flash the ECU. Also every Tues theres a VW meet of new and old modded also off Beach and Garfield @ beach burger 7-12 midnight
A friend of mine has a 2009 Jetta GLI which is essentially the same thing as the GTI. His car had the TSI - NOT the FSI motor. He didn't have ANY trouble modding that - turbo, software, down pipe exhaust etc... it made impressive levels of power and delivered it smoothly and efficiently. He did have the DSG which I drove and would definitely opt for.
My Wife has a 2007 Passat which has the FSI motor which, in all honesty, you should avoid. We have not had troubles, but that engine requires more lifetime maintenance since it has a timing belt and a few other less than desirable basic construction design points IMO.
As far as I know, you can direct port program/flash the ECU for various levels of performance based on turbo, exhaust etc... in ALL TSI based models.
Check out APR as one vendor: http://www.goapr.com
I currently own a 2003 GTI which has the 1.8T and it is still (after 8 years and 130K miles) a great car... but the looks and the performance potential of the MKVI cars does make me want to spend money... a lot of it.

Sorry.....re-post
A W12 GTI ?
I don't think I've ever seen anyone try to 'knock' that one off before.
A quick google revealed one vendor in the netherlands that makes a body kit... no idea on availability.
exclusiveworldwidetuning.com
The headlights/fenders/hood are different between the MKV and MKVI so this may be a no-go on the newer models since this kit looks designed for the MKV's.
Hit up vwvortex - you may find someone there who has actually done this.
