you #4's - do you take the rim off to clean them?

No, I use a strong bottle brush to get to the inner parts

Yeah....I guess I'm about a 3.5 also.....never take rims off, but reach inside the wheel and wash the rim as thoroughly as I can.....and I wash my car every week. During the week, maybe twice, I'll take some damp towels and wipe the dust down so it doesn't build up. I know for some, brake dust is no big deal, but I hate the look, and I love to see shiny rims!! Does that make me anal??

116s are probably almost as hard as 172s to clean!!

I'd rather pull the service records. My car, for example, is extremely well cared for, although i could care less about brake dust on the very inner part of my wheels. If you pull the service records, however, you'll see that it's been in the shop at least once a month since I bought it, and, in fact, the shop is where it currently resides, secondary to another sunroof problem.

So, if the inner parts of my wheels were spotless, you'd still buy my car?

I wouldn't.

After having my e60 for 6 months I now have the one thing to look for when considering a used e60:

Front Rim Brake dust

1-dark all over = never cared for - so watch out
2-only the front is clean - probably only took it to a car wash - don't buy
3-entire ouside of rim clean - guy/gal cleaned it themselves - was well cared for
4-inside of rim free from brake dust - owner was anal retentive - buy this car

anyway - this may be hard to understand, but hose of you who clean your own rims will know what I mean
Definitely a 4--if I was going to sell my car. How does a 2 happen? Only the front of the rim is clean? What is the front of a rim?

OK, that's it. My 545 is officially for sale. Being the great guy that I am, I'm giving folks on the board the first opportunity to purchase it. I'm asking full Kelly Blue Book retail value, plus a $5,000.00 "classic car" upcharge. I think that's fair.

Next, I'm going to pour a bourbon and water (yes, I know it's 8:00 a.m.); head to the garage; and start polishing those rims.

Wait, where in the hell is my car, exactly? Oh, I remember. IT'S STILL IN THE SHOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
