I've had my 07 530xi for 2 weeks and did a lot of work travel during the period for a total of 1,800 miles.

When I bought the car it said the next oil service in 11,000 miles. 1,800 miles later it still says change the oil in 11,000 miles.

Am I missing something here? Shouldn't this be a number that moves lower the more I drive? Same for brakes and all other items in the service window, no change.

Actrually you'd think that ... but the computer based service monitoring your driving habits constantly updates the service intervals. For example, if you had done a bunch of short hops and cold starts instead the countdown would be different.

I've had my car over a year and the rear brake monitor still shows 50,000 km (31,000mi) while the front brake monitor has gone from 50,000km to 47,000km (29,000mi). My oil interval goes down slowly in city driving and jumps up after a number of highway runs. My retired 325i used to do the same thing. I wouldn't worry about it but keep an eye on it over a longer period of time.
