Was at dealer's last year when I put my E39 into the workshop and saw the E60 in Olivin and it was love at first sight

I remembered murmuring to myself that it would be THE COLOUR when I order my E60!

Couple of months later, I needed to get rid of the E39 quickly and when I approach the sales guy, he told me only 2 units left ex-stock or wait for next batch 3-4 months later - of the 2 he has a Mystic Blue and a Olivin Green.

So here it is..... my year old toddler

I wanted that color too. Then i saw some cars with it. Different than just a chip in a brochure. kind of dirty color. I passed and went for something more tuetonic. I think I will lighten up next time.

Olivin(e) Green is a color with two personalities. When I was trying to decide what color to order I went around from dealer to dealer and found every color except for Olivine. I did not give up and kept searching and finally found it.......on an X5. It looked really good on the X5, but I kept searching until I found one on an E60. Unfortunately it was on a 525i and the small wheels as well as the chrome window trim did not give it a fair shake. However, I still liked the color a lot and decided that I would order it when the time comes. I still checked all the local dealers on a regular basis just to be sure......and finally I found it at another dealer. The lighting was a lot different on that day and this is when I saw the second personality of the Olivin Green. It had a weird shade of green that I could not live with (sort of like pea soup green). In the next few months I saw more Olivin E60's and was able to confirm that depending on the lighting I either loved it or hated it. So I decided that it was not for me. If it always looked like the picure on Olivin 530's post above then I would love it. You can also look at the pictures that I took of the first Olivin E60 that I saw in the link below. In these picture too I think it looks pretty good. However, it was the other shade of green in other lighting conditions that steered me away (I don't have any pictures of this).

One thing that makes a huge difference on Olivin Green is the window trim and wheels. It looks much better on a US Sports Package car which has the Shadowline trim instead of the chrome, and type 123 or 124 wheels.

So if anyone is seriously thinking of the Olivin Green then I highly recommend that you see it in many different lighting conditions: sunny, partly sunny, cloudy, etc. Make sure you can live with both sides of it's personality before you buy it.

Hi everyone,

I selected "Olivin" on my 525 SE and I have not regretted the choice I made.
