Never driven one but the BHP and Torque figures look great. So those who own one can we have your comments please.

I used to drive a 97 528i manual and was driving along a dual carridge way one day with my friend in front in a 525d touring auto (the last one) and I would only have crept past him if I'd had the nerve to do so before the traffic lights at 130mph. At the lights he put the window down and said not bad for a diesel eh!!!!

Thats when I realised how good BMW diesels are!

Hope to tell you pretty soon, Merv.
Will have mine tuned so that it has almost the same performance as a 530d. Only if you wanna pay extra taxes, insurance and registration (one off EUR 1,239), you would want to drive a standard 530d. Had a chiptuned 530d before. No 530i could keep up with that car.

One of the most recent 525d's I have seen is the one from Pmmeke (also getting his tuned).
I am currently driving a Saab AERO 2.OT (yes, I have sinned, but only for 15 months...); very nice and also pretty fast car, but I miss the torque!

the car is quite fast and it has a lot of torque (400Nm, Belgium specs).
But the 530d is awesome in torque!!
but mine 525d is great as well

Hey guys

My 525d is awesome I love the power it has even in tunisia where the quality of diesel is really poor.

I agree that the 530d is a monster and that the 535d is (well it is prohibited here in tunisia)

Basically I am very satisfied with my 525d enough power to impress me on a regular basis (used to drive a lexus SC300 right before my E60)

highly recommend it

Hi,

As I'm also from Belgium and driving an E60 525d I am interested what tuning you choose. Who did it and what's the cost?

Reg,

I have a 525d sport and other than a bit of lag from a standing start the performance is excellent. I haven't driven a 530d or 535d but I can only imagine their awesome. I have just had a 330d loan car and that felt quite a bit quicker than mine, but I think that was a combination of power/ weight, size, less subtlety rather than a massive difference in performance.

The 525d is much torquier and fells more powerful and quicker than my previous car; 520i (with 2.5l petrol engine)
