I am going to tackle my own oil change. I was going to use the Mobile 1 0w-40 rather than the 5w-30 BMW oil. Is there any problem in doing this?

Cheers,

N

ALways use that in the 330i, if 0-40 was as available as it is in europe, it would probably be the recommended oil weight in the US

No problem, provided you can find it.

I believe the 5w30 does not have the same BMW certifications as the 0w40, though.

I've used 5w30 exclusively in my currently owned Volvo turbos and it has been fantastic juice. I plan to switch to 0w40 for my 535i if I can find it here. Its listed on Advance Auto Parts online website, but haven't checked my local store yet.

Where the heck to all you all live? I can find 0w-40 M1 at the local Wal-Mart. Also I would like to used the M1 since I use it for my Porsche and would like to 'standardize' on oil in the garage.

Thanks All!

I prefer German-made Castrol in 0w-30. They sell it in most AutoZones, just make sure it says made in Germany on the bottle lol.
