Default is it ok to drive with my kidney grills taken out?

Ok so here is the situation, I am currently plasti dipping my kidney grills gloss black in order to match the theme I am going with on the car, I have somewhere to be in a lil bit and don't think the grills will have enough time to dry good enough that I can put them in without damaging the paint. it would be a short drive and I can take freeway or cut thru town, I just don't want to risk it if it is likely to mess the car up or risk problems, I will either just put them in the best I can or see what I can do about going to my thing another time?
