My last oil change was done on 2/1/2005.
It is a little bit more than one year already but iDrive still saying 4000 miles to go.

Should I get an oil change? Is it free? Or I need to wait till iDrive tell me to do so?

Thanks

Go get one! its free... 1 year or count down timer... which ever comes first. They shouldnt reset your timer which means you can get another one for free in another 4K miles... Or if i were you get it like after 4500 miles which means you have you'll run into -500 miles...

perfect! then just ask them not to reset the timer and then you can get another oil change in 4000 or 5000 miles... just run it -1000 to -500 miles. then that means you get a oil change in anotehr 5K miles which is good.

BUT make sure your dealer allows you to run it -1000 to -500 miles... i think my dealer doesnt mind...

the dealer wiil reset it if they do it as part of the free maintenance and I think they will reset it as well if you pay. Most likely the dealer will not change your oil unless the Idrive does not tell you and in this case it doesn (check for Service bulletins about Idrive not calculating oil servicing correctly). Myself I have 7.5K miles and I'm changing my oil myself with redline oil (i may take it to jiffy lube and give them my oil and filter for $15 ), my idrive says 6k to go so i figure everyt 7k miles changes is good for the engine instead of the 13 to 15k interval...

Awesome! I love the 1 year or ~12K count down.
