The maintenance changes your oil every 15k miles. Would it be overkill to change it yourself at 7k miles and than have dealer change it at 15k??

BMW will change your oil on an annual basis if you don't reach the indicated mileage. It's in the manual.
I change my oil twice a year. Before summer and before winter. I do it one time and BMW does it the next.

I change mine every 5,000 miles and take it into BMW when my service light goes on (which hasn't happened yet on my E60).

I wonder if I put Redline Oil at 7500 miles and than dealer puts Castrol at 15k, is it wacky.

According to service manual and BMW, it's overkill.
What is the objective to change twice as often ?
