i wouldnt recommend hammering on the oil pan. you could cause other problems, like maybe a bent pan, or maybe knock the welded nut loose, that the drain bolt goes in to.

there is one other thing you could try, as it is the MOST APPROPRIATE way to do it i guess, but it requires more work and tools. This is what i would do if i had the tools. many places would just do the hammer process. NOBODY in their RIGHT MIND is going to start welding stuff around the oil pan while it is on the car and full of oil.
try a tap and die set. you can pick one up at sears or any auto parts store.

take that allen, and jb weld it in the bolt.

+1 on the hammer. saw a guy remove a worn out hex screw that way by hammering a bigger hex tool on it . it took him a bit of time. But in the end it worked!
