in hk, bmw charges us$200 for a 2.5L engine and they use mobile 1.

why not just call them up and ask them what oil they would use

My Ride: I have an 05 545i. It's a manual with a few options. This is my first BMW but I don't know how I'll ever be able to switch to something else.

Wow, that's a really good price.

I called two of my local BMW stealerships and the first one said $110 and the other said $150! furthermore, he said that it was $150 for ALL bmw's: from 4.4 to 2.5. He was a jacka** and didn't know what he was talking about.

I'll be doing it myself here very soon.

Heck yeah! 7 qts. of oil and filter cost me $73. Go to your dealer's website and check for parts/service coupons also. A penny saved...

How often would anyone recommend changing the oil on a 530 2005 manual car? i just changed mine through BMW and spent $200. do i really have to change it again 15,000 miles later? I dont feel comfortable doing that...

yes it's highly recommended to change oil every 15K. if you want your engine to live longer of course

Are you saying that you don't feel comfortable spending the money every 15,000 miles, or that 15,000 is too long of an interval? I could see an argument for the latter, but not the former...

I just finished changing my oil this morning, Mobil 1 synthetic oil around 7 quarts.

My problem is to reset the onboard computer? Do I have to go to a dealer to get it reset?

You can do it yourself. Try using the search function.
