thanks everybody for the messages of sympathy...though world events over the last couple of weeks re terrorism make me realise just how unimportant a bashed car is in the grand scheme of things.

Yikes! sorry to see this. My garage is pretty narrow, and the 5 is bigger than my old E46....this will make me even more cautious.

well, the labour alone is going to be around 750 GBP....its off to the bodyshop to see if it can be repaired or wether there needs a new quarter panel to be fitted.....looks like its going to be an expensive mistake......also looks like I'll need to use my insurance....oh dear!
